With the perch festival in Orillia and probably the walleye tournament in Trenton being closed for the 2020 season do you have any recommendations on where to launch at either site.May God continue to bless you and your family

Hi Dr. Wright, if the public boat launches are closed your only option at either location is to access a private boat launch. This may be available from a personal land owner or a business like a marina. I would suggest you try calling marinas and check.

Hi Italo. Hope you and your family are well and enjoying this beautiful weather. I’m going to lake Simcoe tomorrow for the first time launching out of Keswick. I’m interested in catching Jumbo perch, Smallmouth and Walleye. Wondering if you could direct my to locations where these fish might be?Thanks…George

Right now the perch will still be in transition so you can catch them shallower and deeper. If you head out of Keswick, ON a couple of my favorite spots are on the way north.

The first one is off the point and bay in front of Inn on the Lake, the second point is further north off of the end of Boucher St. I have most of my luck for the larger perch fishing a 2 1/2″ Finesse Minnow on a 1/8 oz. jighead and fishing it as if I was fishing for walleye (along the bottom). Hope you do well…God bless you, Italo
