Why call your show Canadian Sportsfishing when you seem to only fish in Ontario , and you don’t bother to come to western Canada to fish, just asking

Posted on June 25th, 2022

Hi Ken, you should watch this weeks episode fishing in BC. We have several TV shows each year fishing in western Canada…God bless you.

Italo, we would like for you to come up to the Yukonmy boyfriend retired and he loves your show, he loves fishing and we can’t wait for the lakes to be ready sometime around his birthday in May every year he put the boat in the water at that time hahahah then we travel lots Atlin Lake, Teslin Lake, Kluane Lake but our favorite and we catch lots is Aishihik Lake because we travel down the Lake park and you can catch from shore I want you to come up here and go fishing with us.Luna (Lolo )

Hi Lorena, Thank you for your invite but unfortunately the Yukon is far from where we are in Ontario. I have had the privilege of fishing at Kluane Wilderness Lodge on Wellesley Lake and I have also fished a few other rivers there. The fishing and scenery was amazing. Wishing you and your boyfriend a wonderful fishing season…God bless you.

Hi Italo. To what length do you cut the legs so that they fit properly on the rear of the Rod Runner.?

Posted on April 5th, 2022

Hi Keith, I can’t give you a specific measurement. I suggest you line up the legs and with your eye judge the angle you desire so the Rod Runner is stable. From memory I think I cut off about 3-4 down of the sections…God bless you.

Rod Runner rear legs. I notice your Rod Runners have rear legs which increases the stability. Where did you get the rear legs or could you tell me the length of the rear legs so I can cut a longer replacement front leg to the correct length. Thank you.

Hi Keith, you are observant. I order extra legs (the same as on the front), cut them down to my desired length so I have a good stable angle for the Rod Runner and attach them using 5-min epoxy glue and even small bolts and nuts. I find the added stability is excellent to protect all sizes of rods and reels when carrying them, when stationary on the ground and especially when running in the boat over waves.

Hi Italo. Does it affect Berkley MaxScent baits if they have been frozen? I watch your show regularly and have learned a lot from you. Thanks

Posted on February 20th, 2022

Hi Keith, thank you for your kind words. I have not used MaxScent baits but I understand that they do not dry out and get hard like Gulp. I don’t believe you have to freeze them. I think if you keep them in the moist sealed pack they should still keep the scent strong.,,God bless you.

Hi Italo, one of my first ever walleyes was caught on a storm thinfin. Have you used these lures much for walleyes and if so what are your favourite colors?

Posted on February 11th, 2022

Hi Dako, I have, it’s still a very popular lure for Walleye especially in Quebec on the lake expansions of the St. Lawrence River where shad are plentiful and Walleye love to feed on them. Most people troll with them flat-lining or with diving devices but you can also just cast and retrieve it. They also work well for Bass. They especially work well in the Great Lakes where alewife and gizzard shad are common.

Hello Italo,I hope you and your loved ones are well in these fast changing times..My question : what outfit would you recommend for a) ice season , for fishing safely on iceb) for cold season, late fall, early spring , assuming ice out and there is possibility to fish from the boat or shore.By outfit I mean brands, types of clothes, survival suites etc..I would like to believe it is not confusing question.Thank you very much for everything you do and keep safe.

Hi Sergey, we are all doing well. Hope you and your family are well also. Here are by two favorite outfits that I would encourage you to look at. The first is the Rapala Ice Suit Jacket matched with the pants .

The second one I would suggest is the Arctic Armor suit which is also a flotation suit.

Hi Italo, what are your thoughts on purple colored lures? It seems to be a good color when targeting brook trout and walleye.

Posted on January 28th, 2022

Hi Angler, purple is one of my favorite colors combines with silver  on wobbling lures, spoons and spinners. I feel it’s a high-contrast color that fish can see especially in clear water.  I use purple colored Rapala Tail Dancers for Walleye and purple jigs for Steelhead, Salmon & trout.
