This year marks the 5th year of The Peter Larmand Outdoors Kids Charity Tournament for CHEO – April 30th, 2011Posted on January 28th, 2011
I hope everyone had a great holiday and that you are all coping with this cold weather we have been getting lately. Although do not to worry spring is just around the corner, at least keep telling yourself that and it might arrive sooner. 🙂 February is just around the corner, fishing and boats shows are just about ready to start. Before you know it we are fishing in shorts and t-shirts again.
However, before we get to the shorts and t-shirts there is an annual event that has been taking place the past 4 years, the Peter Larmand Outdoors Kids Charity Tournament for CHEO. Last year was our biggest year ever. We had 41 kids that participated and we raised over $700 for the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. This year marks the 5th year and we are hoping to make it bigger and better than previous years.
Last year we started at the end of March putting this all together and the turnout was more than we expected. So this year we thought that we would start earlier and get the word out to more areas to try and make it even bigger.
The event this year will be held on April 30th, 2011 with the same format starting at 10:00 am ending at 2:00 pm with a lunch break at noon with prizes immediately following the event. The fees will remain the same at $10 per child or $25 per family of 3 or more kids. This year we will schedule it a week earlier so that it doesn’t conflict with the opening of walleye on the first weekend in May.
If there is any way that you can help out with this event, it would be much appreciated. Whether it’s with a prize donation or your time during the event, seeing the look on their faces when they catch those fish is amazing. The bigger smiles come when they come up once we call their name for their prizes. Makes all of the effort worthwhile, check out the gallery to see what happened last year at http://www.peterlarmand.com/outdoors/gallery/childrens-charity-event
So if you can spare a few hours on a Saturday and bring your kids or know people that have kids and want to introduce them to the outdoors and the sport of fishing that we all love and enjoy doing, bring them along.
Please reply to this e-mail if you plan on attending so that we can make sure that we have enough prizes for all participants.
