2010 Walleye Season with G2Angling
Posted on April 12th, 20102010 Walleye Season with G2Angling:
Our walleye season starts on opening day May 1st, aside from a few Walleye tournaments our G2Angling team will be participating in, we’ll be out on the water more than any guide service on the Bay of Quinte this year…this is what clearly gives us the edge. We know the water well and we continuously follow the walleye through out the bay….all year.
From May to June, we’ll be contour fishing for Walleye with multiple patterns. This is where we hit the numbers, with resident walleye turning on and starting to feed more and more aggressively…with most anglers in the boat hitting 10 to 20 resident walleye a day, the numbers can be explosive. The walleye typically average 2lbs to 8lbs… most of the larger migratory walleye have transitioned out to Lake Ontario.
Throughout the summer and into October, we are out in deeper water. Most would think that the hot summer months would be tough for walleye, well let me tell you, the only thing that is HOT is the fishing!! Our approach is casting crankbaits to deep weedlines for larger walleye, with walleye quite often hitting the 10lb mark. This is also one of the most enjoyable times of year, with incredible weather and the opportunity to bring the kids out and teach them the fundamentals of angling.
When the Fall approaches, the migratory walleye from Lake Ontario start to make their way back to the Bay, following the schools of Gizzard Shad. Trolling crankbaits and aggressive jigging techniques work extremely well for us. Take a look at our Photo Gallery from the Fall last year….our results speak for itself. Walleye numbers can be amazing, however the most impressive part is the size….with many fish each trip in the 10lb to 14lb range. I think the biggest challenge for new clients will be trying to beat the our existing clients into the boat.
**NEW** (July to Sep) With the Bay of Quinte also having an incredible World Class Largemouth Bass fishery, our newest guide Jamie “Stoty†Stothart will be guiding in his spectacular Ranger….deepwater, topwater and heavy cover patterns are going to thrill you and possibly turn the average angler into a true believer in Bay of Quinte “Bucketmouths†. We are really booking up fast, please try to get your trip booked WELL in advance to avoid any disappointment in not getting out on the water….
