If you fish any of the near-shore reefs or wrecks sooner or later you will tangle with a toothy Barracuda. Most Florida anglers don’t target these fish, but often hook them casting lures and fishing live baitfish for other species like mackerel, grouper and snapper.
To me they are an excellent fighting fish that looks awesome and very intimidating when you have to land one or remove the hooks. Most anglers agree that Barracuda reminds them a lot of freshwater Musky. If you do want to target them, one of the bests lures to use is a “cuda-tube”. Just cast it out as far as you can and reel it in fast so it’s skimming along the surface and get ready for an explosive strike!
