Many steelheaders in southern Onatrio tributaries are putting their drift-outfits to use and taking advantage of fish running through most lower tributary stretches.
Matt Cory of TopSet Sportfishing sent us these images of some trophy size steelhead he and his friend tied into. The one he is holding above looks like she is definitely getting ready to hit a spawning-bed. Early spring fishing can be “gangbusters” if your timing is on and you hit the bulk of the steelhead that were staging near the mouth and that have started their up-stream migration. Once you locate a pod of fish, best early season presentation, especially in larger tributaries is fresh roe bags drifted under a float!
