Looking to spend 3 nights on Quinte in mid Jan. Recommend any operators that either have day huts or overnight huts? I am unfamiliar with Quinte during the hard water season but moving from Nipissing as the commercial netting and slot size being only 3% lake pop. Has really made it difficult. I have noticed a huge decline in the last ten years. I need to find the big ones ln Quinte now! Thanks!Posted on November 29th, 2016
Hi Jeff, Quinte for ice fishing is an excellent choice. The walleye there move around a lot and it’s best not to be in a stationary hut. I would strongly suggest you contact a personal friend of mine, Richard Somerville (firstname.lastname@example.org ).
I have done many ice TV shows for trophy walleye with Richard. He follows the walleye around especially in Big Bay which ices-over early and usually knows exactly where they are. He has portable ice shelters and can really put you on to fish. When I stay in Belleville, ON I normally just book a room at the Confort Inn since it is walking distance to many restaurants and just a few minutes from the Bay…God bless you.
