I know you have probably answered this Question before about why some Smallmouth have red eye’s and other’s have brown. I have noticed on 1 of the back lakes I fish there seem’s to be a lot of red eyed smallmouth and they seem to be lighter in colour where as the darker ones seem to have the dark eyes would you know why ThanksPosted on October 12th, 2017
Hi Tevor, smallmouth bass commonly have red iris’s, but they can also be brown in color. The color shade of their eye is a genetic trait just like their body color. I have caught smallmouth that have had prominent markings on their sides, others with very little markings on the sides of their bodies. No matter what color their eyes are, they are just as much fun to catch!
