Hi Italo my friends and I are planning a post spawn walleye lake Erie trip the last week of May. Never fished past Port Burwell. What depth should we aim for? Is Erieau far enough west or should we start at Point Pelee? Worm harnesses or crankbaits trolled? Any insight would be appreciated thank you.

Hi Jay, if it’s a “normal” spring, the last week in May should be really good for walleye around Colchester to Point Pelee, ON. Hundreds of walleye will be feeding there heavily that were spawning in the Detroit River and will be in 15-30′ of water. Best presentation will be to either flat-line troll with/without inline planer boards and worm harnesses. You should be able to see where the fish are being caught by the concentration of boats. Caution, winds are always a factor when trolling Lake Erie and fishing with winds under 12km/hr is recommended.
