Hi Jonathan, there are many lakes in southern Ontario that have good crappie fishing in shallow bays and marina basins right now. This includes;

  • Kawartha Lakes
  • Lake Simcoe
  • Darlington Bay, Lake Ontario
  • Grenadier Pond, Toronto
  • Grand River & Hamilton Conservations Area reservoirs like Mountsberg, Valens, etc.
  • Guelph Lake, ON
  • Puslinch Lake, ON
  • Grand River

The key is to find shallow areas in bays and especially where creeks and canals enter the main body of water. Crappie move in and out of areas regularly so timing is important. Sometimes they are in the shallow early and late in the day only. Other times all days. As soon as the waters warm up they move our from shallow areas and disperse in the main bodies of water.
