Friends and I can’t wait for Erie walleye. We would like to hit the Detroit river early but we cannot go as a group until the end of may. We would like to hit Erieeau or an area similar post spawn. Will the bite be trolling body baits, worms or jigs. We troll the Nanticoke in late June into July August. We venture out to the end and around long point weather permitting. Will the presentations be the same just slower and do most of the walleye head for American waters near the Bass Islands and Pelee Island.Thank you.Posted on March 13th, 2017
Hi Jay, by late May the walleye that ran up the Detroit River are already dispersed and feeding heavily at the west end of Lake Erie. One of the best stretches to catch them than is from Holiday Beach to Point Peele. Trolling is best technique to locate them. Most guys use harnesses either with/without bottom-bouncers and/or longer lines with planer boards. Best depth to cover is 15-30′.
