While most winter anglers target walleye through the ice, some have discovered rivers and tributaries that can produce walleye from open-water.
Matt Cory of TopSet Sportfishing sent us these images of walleye they caught recently fishing from shore in a southern Ontario tributary.
Michael Colton who regularly fishes the “big-river” either from shore or from a boat also is enjoying catching walleye in open water all winter long. If you’re itching to use your spinning outfits, make sure to check the regulations and look for the many opportunities that you can indeed fish open-water during the winter months. You may be surprised how few fishermen do and the walleye you can catch!
