Many anglers are enjoying southern Ontario steelhead fishing in challenging conditions. Cold weather and rain is working to help post-spawn steelhed to drop back into Lake Ontairo. Simeon Kubassek is fishing the Lake Superior north-shore tributaries and having excellent success.
Water levels are good in the north mostly due to good snowfall levels through the winter months. This has produced good water conditions for spawning fish.
Most of the northern tributaries are faster having a lot of rock bottom and rapid areas. Steelhead still hold in the current seams but in most cases anglers have to cover a lot more water to locate fish.
Simeon has been fishing a drift-rod with fresh roe bags under a sensitive float to catch all his fish.
