I love to fish in Florida all year long. While most Canadians travel to Florida to get away from the cold, when it’s hot in Canada I still head to Florida where it’s even hotter. In fact, this July daily temperatures hovered around 35C. When you’re on the water, a breeze usually helps, but whether there’s a freeze or not, the fishing is HOT!!
A few days ago we headed out about 55 miles into the Gulf of Mexico looking for some trophy Red Grouper. We were not disappointed. Tyler Degraff had some great spot marked and we fished several of them.
We started things off by landing the first big Grouper on a vertical jigging spoon, then two other ones drifting whole, large sardines right along the bottom in about 150′ water. These grouper fight hard and are amazing eating. Can’t wait to head back out!!
