I love pike fishing any time of the year, but especially in the spring after pike spawn and they start feeding heavily. I find that they are very aggressive and still in relatively shallow water. The key is to locate new weed-growth in water that is between 7-15′ deep.
Fishing thick weeds in shallows will produce few results and most likely very small pike.
Locating individual weed “clumps” in the vicinity of the thicker shallow weeds will result in finding bigger pike!
Roy Shipley (above), shows the advantage of locating the right type of weeds at the right depth and literally getting fish in no time! Raymarine Dragonfly series makes it easy to locate to find the right kind of weeds especially when you use the DownVision setting.
