Our good friend Bill Selby sent us these images of freshly caught steelhead he fooled on his hand-tied “bugs”.
Bill has been experimenting with different sizes and colors, some with living rubber legs, some with no legs.
Interesting that steelhead are hitting these bugs in slow moving drifts and discolored water. Notice that all of them are hooked right in the inside of the snout. If you are a passionate roe fishermen you may want to consider fishing “bug” flies for late winter steelhead.
