With the recent mild-spell ice conditions in southern Ontario have deteriorated. Many areas along Lake Ontario where anglers were getting out up until a week and a half ago have become dangerous.
The Bay of Quinte had about 9″ of good ice, but by this past weekend about 2-3″ of surface ice turned to soft-ice and water. Pressure crack areas have especially become dangerous. Anglers looking forward to catching trophy walleye there are wise to wait for temperatures during the day and night to go below zero for several days before planning on heading out.
