Trout fishing is slowing down in Upper NY tributaries.

small_brownI took a drive down the NY side of Lake Ontario to check-out the conditons and can confirm that the migratory brown and rainbow trout fishing is slowing down in the smaller tributaries.  Eighteen Mile Creek in Olcott, NY had lower, clearer water and there was more ice along each shoreline.  I saw about a dozen anglers working some of the 3-4′ of water stretches, but few fish were caught.  I hooked two fish and landed one small brown.  Both fish were hooked on a white bunny-fur streamer.  If the colder weather continues, it will be time to get the ice fishing gear out.
